Every student should have access to a high-quality, well-rounded education. It shouldn't matter what neighborhood they live in, their parents' income, what language they speak at home, or the color of their skin. A high-quality education should be available to all.

That's why I ran for office, and that's why I continue to fight.

For decades our public education system has been under attack and underfunded. And now Congressional Republicans are proposing ruthless budget cuts that will undermine public education – including an almost 80% cut to Title I funding that will undoubtedly harm the most vulnerable students.

The COVID pandemic further exposed and exasperated the longstanding opportunity gaps many students, particularly Black and Latino students, face in our education system.

Public education is a good investment, and these proposed cuts would be reprehensible and irresponsible. To make matters worse, Congressional Republicans are trying to take funding from public education and funnel resources to unaccountable private schools.
