Did you see our announcement, John?
As a part of our annual gala, we highlight members of the community who exemplify excellent public service, and this year's honorees are no different.
Representative Linda Serrato is in her second term as the New Mexico State Representative, and has successfully led on legislation protecting access to reproductive, abortion, and gender-affirming care, increasing venture capital funds in New Mexico, making energy efficiency more affordable for commercial property owners, and encouraging entrepreneurship in our state. Today, she is proud to serve in the legislature to do right by the next generation, including her two young, kind, and so smart daughters. She is committed to passing paid family leave, diversifying our economy, and envisioning economic prosperity for each and every New Mexican.
New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver has served on the local and state level for over 16 years. Beginning as County Clerk in 2007, she expanded voting access, modernized voter registration practices, and played an instrumental role in overturning New Mexico's same-sex marriage ban. After nearly a decade as County Clerk, in 2016 she won a special election to serve as New Mexico's 26th Secretary of State. In 2020, her colleagues from around the country, both Democratic and Republican, elected her to serve as President of the National Association of Secretaries of State. This past legislative session, she worked alongside the Legislature and advocate community to pass a historic voting rights bill (HB4), solidifying New Mexico's position as a leader on ballot access. She continues to be a national voice on election security, ballot-access, and good governance policies.
Please join us in celebrating these incredible public servants on Sunday, August 27 at Sandia Golf Club! [[link removed]]
