Selling death: why we must resist the DSEI arms fair – CND webinar

The Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) - one of the world's biggest arms fairs - returns to ExCel London this September. Among the 1700+ exhibitors planning to set up shop include key firms involved in maintaining and upgrading Britain's nuclear weapons system such as BAE Systems. Others will be marketing their wares - from armoured cars and missiles to sniper rifles and tear gas - to some of the world's most repressive regimes.

CND's next webinar will discuss what DSEI is, how arms fairs contribute to global instability, and why peace campaigners must resist the return of DSEI to London.

With guest speakers including: Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham; Richard Norton-Taylor, former Guardian defence and security editor, Board of DeclassifiedUK; and Kirsten Bayes, Local Outreach Co-ordinator, Campaign Against Arms Trade. Chaired by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary.

Days of action against the arms fair will take place between 4-15 September. Find out more here

Don’t put Britain on the nuclear front line! Join the day of action on 23 September

The return of US nuclear weapons to Lakeanheath airbase in Suffolk is not just a local issue but one for everyone in Britain.

Having US nuclear weapons here in the UK puts us on the frontline of any war between US/NATO and Russia, and makes a nuclear attack on us more likely. In a nuclear conflict, it is probable that Lakenheath would be targeted, followed by strikes on cities across the country.

After three national demonstrations at Lakenheath, CND is calling on groups and supporters to hold a day of action in their own communities on Saturday 23 September, highlighting the risks posed by this nuclear escalation.

Events could include die-ins, rallies, public meetings, or anything that groups think could make an impact and raise awareness. More information and resources to follow.
