Hi Friend,
Around the world and around the clock, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) staff embody what it means to be a humanitarian. Our staff provide urgent care in the wake of conflict, disease outbreaks, and natural disasters, often bearing witness to suffering that would otherwise go unnoticed by the global community.
When it comes to building a more equitable world, all of us have a role to play. Your support and donations can help MSF teams build a world where everyone has access to the health care they need. As a member of our global community, you fit the definition of humanitarian too!
That’s why, this World Humanitarian Day, we would like to invite you to strengthen your commitment by making a recurring gift and becoming a Field Partner. Field Partners are an integral source of support for MSF teams around the world.
Syria: Devastating earthquakes in northwestern Syria earlier this year displaced hundreds of thousands of people, many of whom were already struggling following over a decade of civil war. Six months after the earthquakes, many displaced people are living in overcrowded camps where the risk of malnutrition and disease is high. To help improve conditions, MSF teams have distributed 111,000 relief items and are working across100 displacement camps.
Sudan: Conflict in El Fasher, North Darfur, has brought social, economic, and medical activity to a standstill. After four months of intense fighting, MSF-supported South Hospital is the only functioning referral hospital left. Since the violence began, our teams in South Hospital have treated over 1,000 war-wounded patients.
Mexico: MSF’s Comprehensive Care Center (CAI) in Mexico City provides support to people affected by violence, including refugees and migrants who travel a dangerous path through Mexico. Along the way, they face kidnapping, extortion, violence, and a critical lack of access to essential health care. Since 2017, MSF staff in El CAI have provided comprehensive care for 602 survivors of torture and other cruel treatment.
