NLIHC Releases Out of Reach 2023: The High Cost of Housing
According to the 2023 Out of Reach report, even with Virginia's new $12 minimum wage, housing in Arlington remains out of reach for many. To afford a modest one-bedroom apartment, workers need to earn $31.06 per hour, nearly $10 above the state average, and nearly $20 over minimum wage. Workers for whom housing is out of reach include elementary school teachers, maintenance and repair workers, security guards, nursing assistants, and many more.
