John -
When I look around outside, I see wildfires in my community, massive flooding, extreme heat — I see devastation caused by the climate crisis... but when I look around in my community I also see something else:
Everyday people are seeing the reality of the climate crisis for themselves — and they are afraid of things getting worse. John, our climate movement can, and must, capture that fear and channel it into action.
That is why this November, we are organizing a Global Day of Action called Power Up to take the power away from fossil fuel companies and power up the global renewable energy revolution.
Right now climate organizers here at 350.org are hard at work organizing Power Up actions — but with your help today, we can organize so many more actions around the globe and mobilize more people to take action with our climate movement. But how big we can go relies on the help of supporters like you, John, so I have to ask:
Organizing a global mobilization like this one is not easy. It takes incredible amounts of logistics, planning, and yes, resources:
Right now climate organizers are scoping their action locations, securing permits, renting spaces for local groups to meet, ordering materials to make banners and other materials for the actions. But all of these plans rely on the amount of resources we have to make them happen. So what do you say, John? Can we count you in?
Thank you so much for chipping in today. More soon on all of the ways to get involved in Power Up.
In solidarity,
May Boeve
