Late into the evening, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced charges against Donald Trump in his attempts to thwart the 2020 election. Recall Trump's direct request to the Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, to "find 11,780 votes" was recorded and served as just one example of his desire to change the outcome of the election and disrupt the democratic process. Since the release of this indictment, we now know there were other attempts to change the outcome in Georgia as well.
From Willis an interview last night: "Every individual charged in the indictment is charged with one count of violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organizations Act through participation in a criminal enterprise in Fulton County Georgia and elsewhere to accomplish the illegal goal of allowing Donald J. Trump to seize the presidential term of office beginning on January 20, 2021.”
John, Donald Trump and his supporters in Congress have continually espoused false narratives and used inciting rhetoric that not only culminated in the events of January 6th but also resulted in threats towards the Fulton County District Attorney's office and even poll workers in the state of Georgia.
No one is above the law. Donald Trump and his cohorts tried to interfere with the elections process in the state of Georgia, and if he succeeded, it would have resulted in the coup he hoped to achieve.
