Also, while childcare centers continue to grapple with harsh economic realities, some now find themselves confronting an additional burden as a spate of insurance companies have recently dropped or altered their liability insurance policies. These centers are required by state law to hold liability insurance at all times.

  • After a court ruling seemingly ended an effort to annex Wilkinsburg into Pittsburgh, borough officials and activists are considering a different approach. A commission is tasked with deciding whether the borough should adopt a home rule charter, which effectively transfers some governing power from the state Capitol to local borough leaders.
