With the world burning the UK government has produced a climate plan almost entirely lacking in tangible action. So we're taking it to court.
Dear John
The heart-breaking reports from Hawaii are a horrifying reminder we can't ignore the climate crisis. So too are record ocean temperatures and the threats posed to delicate ecosystems.
But Rishi Sunak’s response to our burning planet has been to “max out” the UK’s oil and gas reserves. And produce a climate plan almost entirely lacking in tangible action to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Our victory in court last summer forced the UK government to revise this plan – known as the Net Zero Strategy. But despite having 9 months to draw up a new version, we still think it’s unlawful. So, our lawyers are challenging the revised strategy in court again, alongside ClientEarth and Good Law Project.
It’s thanks to generous supporters like you that we can fund the work of our legal team. And keep campaigning for urgent climate action. But we can’t do it without you. If you can, will you help us keep the pressure on by setting up a monthly gift?

We know a dash for new oil, coal and gas is incompatible with achieving net zero emissions. Yet the government keeps green-lighting new fossil fuel projects. Both on our doorsteps and in our seas.
Unless we rapidly slash emissions, the extreme weather we’ve seen around the world will only get worse. At a time like this the government needs a solid plan to reduce emissions. And stop permitting dirty fossil fuel projects.
We can’t fight the climate crisis alone – your support is vital. Will you help us fight for a greener, fairer future? If you can, set up a monthly donation today.

I hope you're proud of what we’ve already achieved together. But more needs to be done. If we win another legal challenge to secure lawful climate commitments, it could be a history-making climate case.
I’d like to end by saying that along with so many others, the cost-of-living crisis is having an impact on our work. Anything you can do to help is really appreciated. But of course, I completely understand if you’re unable to donate this time.
Thanks for all your support.
All the best,
Katie de Kauwe
