Hi

You may have seen my email recently asking you to donate ([link removed]) to help take Campaign for Better Transport to the next level. These are difficult times for some financially, and I appreciate you may not be able to donate right now. Everything you do in support of the campaign, like contacting your MP or sharing your personal experiences of public transport, is so important, thank you.

If you can donate, please do so today. In these uncertain times, standing up for sustainable public transport that works for people and planet is vital, and we need to work even harder than before to keep it high in the priorities for policy makers and local authorities. We can’t stop there though; we need to take our campaigning up a level and make sure that sustainable public transport that works properly for the communities it serves is the norm everywhere.

Public transport varies massively from place to place. One anonymous person told us this about their experience:

“Coalville is the largest town in North-West Leicestershire. We do not have a train station. The line was closed under Beeching. I feel the bus service is that of a rural isolated village. Pollution is a massive problem in this area. There is a lot of new housing but no better bus service. Children find it very hard to get to school.”

This just isn’t good enough. With your support we can fight for better. Please donate to make sure we can push for better public transport that works for the communities it serves.

Thank you for your support

Paul Tuohy

** Can you help take our campaigning to the next level?
------------------------------------------------------------

Hi

I’m pleased to be writing to you today, to celebrate 50 years of Campaign for Better Transport making transport better, greener and fairer. And, to ask you to help take our campaigning to the next level ([link removed]) .

It’s thanks to your support and the support of others like you that we’ve already come so far. We punch above our weight. Without the big budgets of other organisations, we win important battles and influence government at the highest levels. This anniversary year, as well as cause to celebrate, is an opportunity to look forward. There is still so much to do to make sure everyone, in all communities, has access to regular, reliable and affordable transport.

So, I'm excited to launch our 50th anniversary appeal. It’s time to take our campaigning up a level. Can you can help by donating today?

** Together we achieve great things
------------------------------------------------------------
Campaign for Better transport has won many important battles over the last 50 years. We saw off plans to close half the rail network, and stopped double digit rail fair rises with the Fair Fares Now campaign. More broadly, we have helped to change the way our government sees transport. Policymakers now recognise that public transport has a crucial economic, social and environmental role within our transport network.

But now is not the time to rest on our laurels. There is still so much more to do to help people access buses and trains, not just in towns and cities, but in rural areas too. Everyone, in all communities, should have access to regular, reliable and affordable transport.

Can you donate to help to make sure our campaigning can reach everyone we need to, everywhere we’re needed? As the leading sustainable transport charity, focussing on all transport methods, we have the unique opportunity to influence at every level.

** Your support is vital to campaigning for better transport
------------------------------------------------------------
We’re entirely funded by voluntary donations, so your donation is so important. It makes our work possible. It keeps us independent so we can campaign for what matters to the public and makes a real difference to the planet.

If you can donate you will help to keep up the momentum we’ve built and achieve even more. Your donation could help to produce research that shows why and how to reform transport. It could help influence politicians, local councils and key decision makers to ensure better transport is high on their priorities. It could help to make our voice heard in the media calling for fairer, greener, better transport. And your donation could help to support people to take action for sustainable transport that works for everyone.

I hope you will join me, both in celebrating our 50th anniversary, and in looking forward, just as that small group did 50 years ago, to achieving a better transport future. By working together, we can make sure transport working properly for the communities it connects is the norm everywhere.

Thank you so much for your support.

Chief Executive, Campaign for Better Transport

P.S. It’s time to take our campaigning up a level. I hope you’ll be able to help by donating today ([link removed]) . Together, we’ve achieved so much already and I’m proud to be working with you towards a better transport future.
