A once-in-a-generation, multi-sport athlete with intellectual disabilities (ID) who paved the way forward for so many others, Loretta embodies the spirit and purpose of Special Olympics like no other. Born partially blind and with severe physical limitations, Loretta found Special Olympics as a teenager. And through the power of sport, she found her voice.

In the decades she’s competed with Special Olympics, Loretta has earned gold medals, shattered records, and galvanized countless others to do the same. She has motivated people, with and without ID, athletes and non-athletes, to pursue their dreams and find their own voices. And she has done all of it with an infectious joy that has rippled through our entire community.
