88 years ago today, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law -- and in so doing, put a critical program in place to protect and lift millions of senior citizens out of poverty.

Since then, Social Security has provided a foundation on which workers can plan for their retirement and protect their families in case of disability or death.

Today, more than 66 million people, or 1 in every 5 U.S. residents, collects Social Security benefits -- many rely on these benefits to survive.

So why does George Santos want to cut Social Security?

It’s because he doesn’t care about lifting seniors out of poverty. Rather, he only cares about cutting taxes for his rich campaign donors.

I believe we must protect and strengthen Social Security -- that’s part of why I’m running to DEFEAT George Santos in 2024.
