We cannot let charter schools, corporate interests, and suppression of free speech water down our education.

Friend—This is the first day of school for students in the Los Angeles Unified School District!

I’m a staunch supporter of public education. That means no charter schools or corporate interests leaching funds from our public education—systems that have heavily supported some of my opponents in the past.

I’ve supported teachers and school support staff in their strikes and negotiations for better contracts, and in my work on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council we allocated city funds to supply over 100 backpacks to students in our district for this school year.

Although school is compulsory for American youth, not every American is receiving the same quality of education. Many of our public schools are setting our students up for failure without the proper tools and funding, and our teachers aren't paid nearly enough. Although we have many of the best higher-education institutions in the world, they are often out of financial reach for many people.

I support free college for everyone in the USA.

There is nothing to lose in education; without it, we undermine our own capabilities and opportunities.

Maebe on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council

We’re almost halfway through August—and halfway through the campaign until the primary election at the beginning of next year.

We’re ready to start knocking on doors and putting out yard signs, but we need to raise $5,263 more today to keep pace with our fundraising goals.

Can you help pitch in to support this bottom-up, neighborhood-to-nation campaign?

This movement is growing strong, now including supporters from all 50 states plus DC.

The people want to see me in Congress. My team and I are working tirelessly to make that happen.

Thank you for joining us in this fight.

In solidarity,

Maebe
