Friends,
Just days ago, I held a public forum for the Gold Star families of the 13 fallen servicemembers in Afghanistan. This was the first time that these extraordinary parents publicly shared the stories of their loved ones while detailing their fight for answers and accountability from the Biden Administration.
For two years, these families suffered in silence, but they are now turning anguish into action. I’m honored to have brought them forward and watched them connect with our grateful nation. The overwhelming response they have received is proof positive that the voices of the families need to be heard and that America is listening.
This is only the beginning. Our forum was the first step to delivering the closure and accountability these families deserve. You can watch the entire event here.
There is still much work left to do. That’s why I have authored legislation directing the State Department to declassify documents relating to the Afghanistan withdrawal and passed an amendment to the FY24 NDAA requiring the Department of Defense to produce the documents that will show the American people the truth about the decisions that led to our disastrous and deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan.
I will never stop fighting for these families and the truth that has been hidden from the American people for so long.
As always, it is an honor to serve our community in Congress. If you need casework assistance, please contact my San Diego or Riverside office at (760) 304-7575.
