Council makes water savings through unique self-supplier model

Water Supply

Nottingham City Council has been supplying water services to its own buildings for four years. The Environment and Sustainability division set up a Water Self-supply Licence in 2019 after changes in the industry allowed organisations to choose how they receive water supply and wastewater services.

The City Council is one of only three local authorities to have a Water Self-supply Licence and is unique in the market being the only self-supplier to be running a fully in-house operational model.

While the Water Self-supply Licence only impacts our council buildings, there are lots of things you can do to save water at home.

?? Fix leaks quickly to reduce water waste

?? Install a water butt in your garden and use what’s collected to water your garden. Severn Trent offers subsidised butts for customers through the Save Water Save Money scheme [ [link removed] ]

?? Have a shower rather than a bath

?? Fill your appliances like washing machines and dishwashers to make them more efficient

You can find out more about why saving water matters [ [link removed] ] on our Carbon-Neutral Nottingham website.

Good luck to all students awaiting A-level results

Good Luck

Thursday this week will be a date marked in the diary of hundreds of 17 and 18-year-old across our city.

This is when they will receive their much-awaited A-level results and I’d like to wish them all the very best of luck. A huge amount of work will have gone into studying over the past two years and I hope students get the grades they want.

Don’t forget that lots of support and careers advice is available over the coming days, including locally through Futures [ [link removed] ].

On to the semi-finals for Lionesses!

Lionesses

Huge congratulations to England who came through a tricky quarter-final with Colombia in the Women’s World Cup on Saturday.

It was a tight game but the Lionesses showed their quality and big-match experience when it mattered to make it through to another semi-final. We wish them the very best for Wednesday (kick-off 11am our time) when they meet hosts Australia for a place in Sunday’s final.
