Friend --
Back when I was prosecuting cases in the Marine
Corps, I would argue to the jury that what WASN'T SAID was AS
IMPORTANT as what WAS SAID.
Governor Pritzker's budget address last week is a perfect example
of that.
The Governor gave a budget speech and failed to mention that his
own Office of Management and Budget projects our bill backlog to grow
to nearly $19 Billion within the next five years.
The Governor also failed to mention that our unfunded pension
liability has INCREASED by $4 Billion during his tenure and now stands
at $138 Billion.
His proposed progressive income tax won't even cover the bill
backlog.? It's disingenuous for the Governor to suggest that his tax
proposal will solve our financial problems.?
Both this current budget proposal and last year's budget (I was one
of the very few who voted against it) ignore our approaching fiscal
calamity because they increase government spending. ??
It's becoming more and more clear:? in addition to our structural
budget deficit, Illinois also faces a leadership deficit.
It doesn't have to be this way.??
Right now, we need to start organizing to defeat the progressive
tax amendment.? We also need to unify as a Republican Party so that we
can give the people of Illinois an alternative to the big-government
policies of JB Pritzker.
Don't get mad--get involved.? Illinois is worth fighting for.
Thanks for reading and S/F,
Paul?
