Folks,
We’ve said before that community organizing is the seed from which all else grows — and you probably know by now that we make investments at the local level, with community activists as our partners.
We wanted to take a moment today to explain exactly why we take this approach.
But before we do, can you pitch in to support our work ahead of Tuesday night’s mid-quarter deadline? Any amount helps: [[link removed]]

Boom-and-bust political spending that some other organizations do simply isn’t efficient.
It leads to a lot of overinvestment and waste in certain states and leaves little to no resources for states across our target regions of the Deep South, Appalachia, and the Plains.
And since other organizations wind down their efforts when election season is over, grassroots supporters end up feeling disengaged and untrusting of progressive efforts — but that’s not how we approach things.
Ignoring people for several months during “off-years” isn’t how we want to treat supporters like you — and it’s not part of the recipe for building long-term, systemic power.
That’s why we’ve rejected this idea of so-called “red states,” and dedicated our work to uplifting, supporting, and training activists working across our target regions to help bring long-term, progressive change to every zip code.
By investing in trusted local leaders, we're building a network of activists across the country who have the power to make sweeping progress — which can lead to change in their local communities and our entire nation.
We’ve seen major progress in states previously assumed to be “dark red” — like Alabama, Ohio, and Mississippi — where organizers are banding together to combat gerrymandering, stop dangerous ballot initiatives, and celebrate major voting rights victories.
Our work is only possible thanks to your grassroots support. Being able to count on contributions from this team helps us continue pushing for more progress. Can you pitch in $10 or any amount before our mid-quarter deadline to fuel our work? [[link removed]]
