Democrat,
It’s an exciting time to be a member of our party, as the Presidential primary continues with the Nevada Caucus on Saturday. But we can’t take our eye off the ball -- we need to make sure we do whatever we can to defeat Donald Trump in November. Can you pitch in today to help us get rid of Trump?
The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is advising all Democrats interested in running as district delegates in the 2020 Presidential Primary of two important upcoming deadlines. The deadline for district delegate candidates to submit “Statement of Candidacy” and “Pledge of Support” forms is March 9, which will be followed by the filing deadline for nominating petitions on March 30.
Democrats interested in running for a delegate position to the Democratic National Convention in July should visit the Delegate Selection Plan page where they can find all the necessary forms, as well as access the NJDSC’s Delegate Selection Plan.
Delivering on his promise to fix the culture in Trenton, Governor Murphy unveiled a sweeping new ethics reform proposal this week designed to restore trust in our state government. Proposed reforms include greater transparency for lobbyists and consultants trying to influence legislation, modernizing financial disclosure requirements, stopping the revolving door of legislators becoming lobbyists and more. This ethics reform package demonstrates Governor Murphy’s commitment to standing up for all residents, not just the political insiders.
Senator Cory Booker kicked off his re-election campaign with a new website where supporters can sign up for updates, learn about Cory’s great record of fighting for New Jersey and support his campaign. We need to send Cory back to the Senate to stand up for our values, so please visit his website and get involved in the campaign.
Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald and Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt’s new “Cards for Cops” initiative kicked off this week, with children from schools across the 6th District presenting their handmade Valentine’s Day cards to local law enforcement as a show of appreciation.
Thank you,
Chairman John Currie
