[ [link removed] ]Baby bear found locked in a cage where it had lived for years.
John,
Moon bears are highly intelligent, social animals with a large vocabulary
of sounds they use to communicate. In the wild, they live in family units.
But across Vietnam, these bears are caught with vicious traps and crammed
into tiny cages. Their teeth and claws are removed, and a metal catheter
is inserted into their gallbladders to extract bile which is then sold in
illegal markets as “traditional medicine.”
We can help set them free.
A group of activists in Hanoi is working flat-out to free the last 257
bile-farm bears in the country – they organise rescues and engage with
farmers directly to persuade them to release the bears. They’ve had
amazing success, but for the bears trapped in cages, the progress is too
slow.
So they’re asking for our help. If enough of us chip in, we can
supercharge their work, help them track down more bears for rescue, fast –
and maybe even end this cruel industry for good. Can you help free the
moon bears?

Bear bile farming has been in decline for decades in Vietnam, but hundreds
of animals are still living lives of constant torment. Beautiful bears,
who should be roaming the lands and swimming in rivers, are instead living
in dark, dank cages, often with barely enough room to even turn around.
But ending this vile and illegal abuse is now within reach. Keeping bears
is expensive and risky, and many farmers are looking for a way out – with
the help of groups like Hanoi-based Education for Nature, they can find
one. And Vietnam’s bears can live their lives as they were meant to.
In February, nine bears were rescued from farms in Binh Duong province.
Several were emaciated. One was missing a leg. So many more out there need
our help. Can you chip in today and help end this torture for good?
Anything extra we raise will help power campaigns against animal cruelty
globally.
