It was great to be able to spend this week in Minnesota. Here are a few things to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
Earlier this week, President Joe Biden came to Congress asking for an additional $13 billion in emergency defense aid to Ukraine. This package would be the fifth round of aid scheduled to make its way to Ukraine, adding to the 113 billion worth of U.S. taxpayer dollars committed to the emergency so far. This is far too much money, prioritizing foreign countries over our own fiscal responsibility.
I strongly believe the United States should hold our foreign adversaries accountable and have the backs of our allies. But this much money with this little oversight is alarming. This is why last month, I voted to support the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2024 (FY24 NDAA), which would put procedures in place to audit, direct, and vet all U.S. aid to Ukraine. The American people deserve transparency.
My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Joseph Then, who passed away last weekend from injuries sustained in a tractor accident. When a tragic incident like this happens in our community, we feel it within all corners of the district.
Finally, I’m pleased that I’ll be able to join the Renville County Republicans for their fundraising dinner next Friday, August 18 at the Mayflower Golf Club in Fairfax. They also have a golf event during the day. Like all local parties across the district, they can use your financial support to be prepared for next year’s election cycle. As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support! With gratitude, |
