Over the past decade, we've witnessed a troubling surge in voter suppression tactics across the country. The Supreme Court's Shelby County ruling in 2013 paved the way for states to enact laws that disproportionately affect communities of color and low-income voters, making it harder for them to exercise their fundamental right to vote.

In the aftermath of the 2020 election, these efforts have only intensified. A wave of restrictive voting laws has swept across the nation, with states like Florida and Texas implementing measures under the pretense of preventing "voter fraud" – a claim that has been thoroughly debunked with no evidence of widespread fraud.

The Freedom to Vote Act, a comprehensive voting rights bill, has been reintroduced in Congress. This legislation is the key to protecting and expanding the right to vote, ensuring that every eligible voter, regardless of their background or circumstances, can participate fully in our democracy.

The bill also takes a stand against dark money in politics, bringing much-needed transparency to our electoral process and reducing the sway of wealthy special interest groups. It includes vital provisions to modernize our voting systems, making them more accessible and reliable, such as automatic voter registration, expanded early voting, and safeguards against discriminatory voter ID laws.
