This week we held our 2nd Annual Healthcare Innovation Summit! It was a huge success. We had over 200 people attend a really incredible exposition of Texas healthcare pioneers. I gave awards to my mom’s cancer doctor, Dr. Peter Ravdin, and immunology pioneer Dr. Jim Allison, who has saved countless lives with his breakthroughs.

We heard from local Houstonians like Dr. Donna Chang, who is breaking new limits using stem cells, and young entrepreneurs like Jessica Traver who have created innovative spinal tap devices. We heard how Amir Jafri has lowered costs in immunotherapy, and how Texas A&M Director of Biosciences, Dr. Ken Ramos, is working on precision medicine and “physicianeers.” We also heard from the Director of Texas Medical Innovation Center, Tom Luby, who oversees amazing infrastructure that helps facilitate the innovation we celebrated on Thursday.
