Did you see this, folks?

Just as July was declared the hottest month ever recorded in human history, Republicans unveiled a plan to double down on dirty energy, much to the delight of their friends in the fossil fuel industry.

[link removed] [[link removed]]According to Politico , the plan would:

-block the expansion of wind and solar power.

-prevent states from adopting car pollution standards.

-delegate more regulation of polluting industries to Republican state officials.

As the only meteorologist in Congress, I feel responsible for calling out bad climate policy when I see it. The Republican plan would set us back decades in the fight against climate change and cause unnecessary harm to lives worldwide through worsening extreme heat, drought, floods, and wildfires. We would be giving up on our duty to care for the planet.

The GOP’s proposal underscores the importance of keeping trusted climate communicators like myself in Congress. But because Illinois’ 17th District is so competitive, my team and I aren’t taking anything for granted.

The GOP has already named IL-17 one of its top targets, and we’ll need all the grassroots support we can get to counter their misleading attacks – and continue fighting on important issues like climate change.

Will you chip in $3 to defend IL-17 and keep a trusted climate communicator in office? [[link removed]]
