Help with a Federal Agency [Note: We will be moving this newsletter to a monthly format. If events warrant between updates, we will send out a special issue. We hope that you will continue to find these reports informative.] One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help people communicate with federal agencies. Although I cannot override the decisions made by these agencies, we can intervene on a person’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. No matter what is going on legislatively in Washington, each constituent having trouble with an agency is a priority. The agencies and issues we can assist you with include, but are not limited to: Social Security Social Security Disability Medicare and Medicaid Veterans Benefits Active and Retired Military Passports and Immigration Internal Revenue Service (IRS) U.S. Postal Service Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) In order for us to assist you, the Federal Privacy Act of 1974 requires us to obtain from you a completed privacy authorization form. If you need assistance with an agency, or for more information, please call my Jonesboro office at (870) 203-0540 to speak with one of the talented caseworkers on my staff, or fill out the form here. No votes this week. The House will be in session on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. This week, I met with Governor Sanders, Rep. French Hill, and Jeff Owens, the CEO of Dollar General, to celebrate the construction of a 1.2 million square foot distribution center in North Little Rock, part of the First District as of January of this year. The $140 million investment will add 300 jobs immediately and 600 jobs over time. The distribution center will also include a cold storage facility, which will be able to store fresh fruits and vegetables. I applaud Dollar General for investing in the First District and expanding access to fresh produce and other goods in Arkansas and across the nation. KATV Arkansas officials celebrate new Dollar General distribution center as a triumph in local economic development Wednesday, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other state and local officials gathered at the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and formally welcomed Dollar General's new distribution center in North Little Rock. Among the speakers were Congressmen French Hill and Rick Crawford, Mayors Frank Scott Jr. and Terry Hartwick of Little Rock and North Little Rock, respectively, as well as Dollar General CEO, Jeff Owen. Arkansas Democrat Gazette Hill: Yellow bankruptcy serves as warning about government loans U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Ark., who leads the House Subcommittee on Highway and Transit, tied recent inflation and union discussions as main factors in Yellow's end. "While there are concerns around supply chain woes, our trucking industry is resilient and I don't foresee any long-term disruptions due to this bankruptcy," the Republican from Jonesboro told the Democrat-Gazette in a statement. "I also remain hopeful that Yellow employees will find new jobs in this competitive industry as other companies seek additional truckers to service a larger number of clients." Rep.
