As a 26-year Navy veteran, I always answer the call of duty. From rescue missions in the Florida Straits to Cold War reconnaissance missions to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, I learned to run toward the storm. And that’s why I’m seeking the Democratic nomination to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate.
It’s time to fire Rick Scott — the Florida U.S. Senator with a shameful history of violating public trust, defrauding taxpayers, and coddling Donald Trump and his self-serving allies.
We can defeat Rick Scott in 2024, and I’m the candidate to do it. Here’s why:
- A new poll shows that the race to replace Rick Scott is a toss-up. Scott is deeply unpopular: More than half (52%) of Floridians have an unfavorable view of Scott. That’s not surprising, given his history of defrauding the public and his devastating proposal to cut Social Security and Medicare.
- Rick Scott has never won an election in a year like 2024. In fact, he’s barely won his last three statewide campaigns, despite spending more than $150 million from his personal fortune of ill-gotten wealth.
- Floridians are just getting to know me. That same poll shows that once our neighbors learn more about me, our campaign beats Rick Scott by three percentage points.
I’ve spent my life on the front lines fighting for American values and protecting our nation against extremism. Rick Scott — on the other hand — made his fortune defrauding Medicare.
Rick Scott has violated the public trust time and time again: Spreading misinformation and propaganda, coddling violent extremists, and catering to his billionaire friends, all while pursuing an agenda that would end Social Security and Medicare. Scott has actively participated in Donald Trump’s war on the truth, and just like Ron DeSantis, Matt Gaetz, and other MAGA diehards, he’s part of the Axis of Lies that is threatening to tear America apart at the seams.
It’s time for Rick Scott to go.
Now, defeating Rick Scott won’t be easy. We know he and his extremist allies will do just about anything to hold onto power. But in my career from Navy Seaman to Commander, I never backed down from a fight: I walked right into them.
