Indivisibles,
Over the past two years, MAGA Republicans and far-right organizations have
made education a preferred battleground. They’re banning books in school
districts and libraries and inserting revisionist history into textbooks.
They’re trying to use taxpayer money to fund private and religious
schools, and they’re targeting LGBTQ+ students with legislation like Ron
DeSantis’ Don’t Say Gay law.
Behind this surge of hateful bills and policies is a constellation of
rightwing think tanks, lobbyists, billionaire donors, PACs, and supposed
“grassroots'' organizations like Parents Defending Education and Moms for
Liberty. Together, they form a nationwide effort to dismantle public
schools, censor Black, brown and LGBTQ+ voices, and install school
curricula that indoctrinates students with their extreme worldview.
The assault on our public schools, teachers, librarians, and students is
coordinated and fueled by millions of dollars of dark money, but that
isn’t deterring Indivisibles from fighting back. For years, Indivisible
groups have been organizing to defend their local schools and libraries.
Now, through the Our States, Our Fates program, we’re bringing groups
together from red states across the country to strategize, share learnings
and resources, and support each other in the fight for the freedom to
learn.
The MAGA culture warriors undermining public education have long had their
own national network coordinating attacks on our schools and libraries.
Now there’s a network for regular people who want their kids to have
access to books in their libraries, to learn actual history in their
textbooks, and most importantly to be accepted for who they are when they
foot in the classroom.
Unlike our opponents, we don't need billionaire donors secretly funding
this work. But these activists do need your support. [ [link removed] ]So if you want to

book bans and efforts to whitewash our history, click here to pitch in.
Across the country, rightwing groups are ramping up their attacks on
inclusive education. In state capitols, organizations like the American
Legislative Exchange Council are pushing through a wave of bills targeting
curricula and books that don’t conform to their white-washed version of
American history. Meanwhile at the local level, Parents Defending
Education is recruiting and training MAGA activists to run for local
office and take over PTA’s. These candidates are also supported by
organizations like the 1776 PAC which spent $3.5 million on school board
races in just the last election cycle.
Perhaps the most infamous group is Moms for Liberty -- a top-down
organization that fronts as a grassroots movement and whose leaders have
deep connections to the Koch network of PACs, donors, and think tanks.
While they hold fundraisers with Ron DeSantis and Tucker Carlson, their
members are flooding school board meetings (in some cases, showing up
alongside Proud Boys^1), targeting teachers and librarians^2, and running
for election in hundreds of school board races.
With a new school year underway, the groups in the Our States, Our Fates
program are launching a new Back to School campaign to fight back against
these attacks on our schools and libraries. As you’re reading this,
Indivisibles are showing up to school and library board meetings to expose
the extremism of groups like Moms for Liberty and speak out against book
bans. They’re forming coalitions to expose and defeat MAGA candidates
running on anti-education platforms up and down the ballot. Some
Indivisible activists are going even further -- throwing their hats into
the ring to defend public education as candidates for local school boards
and even statehouses.
The far-right has gotten a head start in this fight, and unfortunately
they’ve made a lot of headway already in their takeovers of school boards,
their hollowing out of our libraries, and their efforts to erase some of
the most important lessons of American history out of state curriculums.
But as a new school year starts, Indivisible groups are ready to spearhead
the resistance to these efforts in their communities and grow a movement
capable of fighting back. They need your support to do it.
So today, we’re asking for your help to get this program off to the best
start possible. The more we can raise now, the more resources we can
provide to local activists waging this fight on behalf of all of us. So,
if you have some cash to spare, [ [link removed] ]click here to pitch in and push back
against the MAGA attack on schools and libraries.

The Indivisible groups organizing on this issue are on the frontlines
watching the MAGA education agenda roll out in their communities. They are
made up of teachers, librarians, parents, and guardians. They’ve got a lot
invested in this fight -- and it’s vital we invest in them.
Thanks, in advance, for your support.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
