The monarch butterfly is officially endangered, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Monarch butterflies are at risk of dying off, and the stakes have never been higher. Some estimates show population declines of up to 95% since the 1990s -- and toxic pesticides like Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup are a key factor. Stand up to Bayer-Monsanto and help save the monarchs and our planet before it’s too late! We need at least 8 people from your city to make a $27 contribution before midnight tonight if we are going to make a difference for monarchs and our planet -- take a stand and make your gift today!

Part of what makes monarchs special is their migration patterns. Traveling around 3,000 miles every year, they act as pollinators along this route. But as the use of herbicides like Roundup has grown over the years, it has decimated the only food that monarch caterpillars depend on -- milkweed. This is making it nearly impossible for monarch young to hatch and survive. Yet companies like Bayer-Monsanto continue to mercilessly put profits over pollinators, people, and the planet.

Friends of the Earth is putting everything we have into protecting our ecosystems from toxic pesticides, but we need your support to make an impact.

The incredible migration of the monarch butterfly can span hundreds to thousands of miles over five generations. Yet each generation knows its destination thanks to an internal “compass” the monarchs follow.

But pesticide companies like Bayer-Monsanto seem to lack a moral compass -- continuing to sell glyphosate, the key ingredient in Roundup, no matter the cost to our planet.

This toxic weedkiller has virtually wiped out milkweed, the only food source for young monarchs, across the U.S. The use of Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup has increased by over 2,600% from 1987 to 2016.

And to make matters worse, a recent study highlighted a frightening fact: every single sample of milkweed collected was contaminated with pesticides. One third with levels deadly to monarchs. Young monarchs are hatching on beds of toxic pesticide-riddled milkweed, and their first meal may be their last.

So it’s no wonder that over 99% of the western monarch population has disappeared since the 1980s. We need your help to fight back before it’s too late!

At Friends of the Earth, we are taking the fight to Congress, the Biden administration, and corporations. We’re pressuring major grocers like Kroger to stop selling food grown with pollinator-toxic pesticides while demanding Home Depot and Lowe’s stop selling Roundup in their stores and online.

In short, we are fighting on every front to save these pollinators. Friend, we need you by our side as we ramp up our efforts to save monarchs from extinction and protect our planet.

When the profits of companies like Bayer-Monsanto come at the expense of our health and our planet, the stakes are too high to wait a minute more to take action. Monarchs are running out of places to lay their eggs in the first place. And young monarchs are hatching on pesticide-riddled milkweed, eating these plants, and dying off. Monarch populations are in freefall -- the time to act is now, while there are still monarchs left to save.

With each passing day, and as toxic pesticide use grows, we may only get the rarest glimpses of these beautiful butterflies. Future generations may never experience the beauty of seeing a monarch on a sunny day. Will you be one of the 8 people in your area today that will make a membership gift and help us fight to protect them and our planet from toxic pesticides?

Help us fight back against corporate greed and the toxic pesticides driving monarchs toward extinction and wreaking havoc on our planet. Rush your $27 gift today.
