Fellow Conservative,

Even though Congress is in recess until September, there is still plenty of political jockeying going on. Perhaps the most critical fight when the Senate returns on September 5th, and the House on September 12th, is the question of government funding. This week, the jockeying got a lot more intense.
Ukraine Funding
On Thursday, the Biden administration issued its appropriations request <[link removed]> outlining how much money they want Congress to approve for certain policies. Included in that outline was a request for $24 billion in military and economic funding for Ukraine.

But funding for Ukraine cannot become a blank check. $113 billion has already been approved to fund Ukraine, yet we have no public accounting to show where that money went, or how effective it has been.

Ukraine funding has also never been paid for using proper spending methods. Rather, the money has been granted using off-budget emergency accounting gimmicks.

Finally, the Biden Administration has still failed to articulate clear strategic goals and objectives. Simply declaring support for Ukraine “for as long as it takes <[link removed]>” does not count as a well thought out strategy. The lack of clear strategic aims only increases the chances of getting sucked into a years long quagmire with little to nothing to show for it. Biden has no answers because he has no plan.

That is why Heritage Action is demanding that any further funding for Ukraine come with accountability.

In a Breitbart exclusive <[link removed]>, Acting Executive Director of Heritage Action Ryan Walker continued to make the case for prudence by pointing out that America has been in conflicts around the world for over 20 years:
I think the American people are rightfully questioning how long we are supposed to be committed to this. After just going through a period of 20 years of conflict, ever since September 11. We have essentially been in some sort of global conflict somewhere. And I think people are tired of it.

This war has not been cheap. On average, funding to Ukraine is now equal to $900 per American household <[link removed]>. If the United States is going to continue funding Ukraine, politicians must make a value proposition to the American people and offer accountability. Anything less would be an abuse of the American public’s trust and money.
Border Funding
President Biden is very fond of saying “Don’t tell me what you value, show me your budget, and I’ll tell you what you value.” Now that the President has shown the money he is requesting, it’s clear to Americans his values are disappointing.

While the administration is happy to throw $24 billion at Ukraine with no oversight or accountability, Biden has only requested an additional $4 billion to address a border security crisis of his own making.

The border has been besieged by illegal migrants from around the world. Over 7 million <[link removed]> illegal migrants from over 160 countries have crossed the border since Biden’s inauguration and Alejandro Mayrokas was confirmed as DHS Secretary.
Each year, illegal migration costs the American taxpayers over $150 billion. The crisis has become so overwhelming even liberal states and cities - Massachusetts, New York City, Chicago, New York state - are declaring states of emergency and crying out for help from the federal government.
When American politicians prioritize the security of other nations over that of the American people, it’s time for them to go. That is why Congress must impeach Secretary Mayorkas for his dereliction of duty.

Cutting the Size and Scope of Government
Conservatives also have a chance to shrink the size and scope of government spending. The national debt currently sits at $32.5 trillion. The accumulation of debt was already too rapid before 2020 but jumped even higher with the advent of Covid-19 lockdowns. Government rushed to spend trillions of dollars to prop up the economy that they had shuttered.

Now, the spending trajectory of the United States is even more dramatic than before. Conservatives must fight to return spending levels to pre-lockdown levels using the appropriations process.
By following The Heritage Foundation’s Budget Blueprint <[link removed]> Congress could save over $12 trillion in potential deficit reduction over the next 10 years.

While Congress is in recess, they will be hosting events and meetups for their constituents. If you are able, find out where and when they will be meeting and show up to let them know Congress must stop the spending trend.
In Case You Missed It
ESG

Americans and state leaders who have been fighting hard against ESG have just achieved a major win: S&P has axed ESG scores from its debt ratings.

ESG scores do not rate companies based on their profitability, rather ESG scoring rates them based on Left wing political priorities such adherence to “social justice” or “green energy.” Rooting ESG out of business practices must be a priority of all American businesses.

Acting Director of Heritage Action, Ryan Walker broke down the takeaways from this victory.

It’s called perjury

On January 23rd a whistleblower revealed <[link removed]> that the FBI’s Richmond office cited the Southern Poverty Law Center as justification for investigating “radical traditional Catholic hate groups.”

On July 12th, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified to the House Judiciary Committee that the memo represented “a single product by a single field office, which, as soon as I found out about it, I was aghast and ordered it withdrawn and removed from FBI systems.”

But now that another version of the memo with fewer redactions has been made public, it is clear that this statement was not true and that the FBI’s actions were not limited to “a single field office” but included Portland and Los Angeles.
This is another example of the clear weaponization of the Federal Government against the American people and the lengths to which our highest government officials will go to cover it up.

Heritage Action will fight every day to bring this weaponization to an end.

Together with the grassroots, we can bring integrity back to the federal government.

I look forward to working alongside you to accomplish this goal.
