John,

I am thrilled and proud to announce Brady’s endorsement of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for reelection.

President Biden is a proven gun violence prevention champion and with our country on track for its deadliest year of gun violence, his continued leadership could not be more essential. That’s why we’re announcing our endorsement as we gear up for a fight to protect America from a gun lobby-backed presidency.

Will you join Brady in endorsing President Biden and the strongest gun safety administration in history? [[link removed]]

We find our nation in a grave situation, where gun violence has become the leading cause of death for children and over 430 mass shootings have happened already this year, in desperate need of a leader who will take on the gun lobby and do everything in their power to end the gun violence epidemic.

Joe Biden is that leader.

In his term so far, President Biden has signed into law the most consequential piece of gun violence prevention legislation in 30 years, implemented executive actions to address the proliferation of 'ghost guns' and invest in community violence intervention, appointed the first ATF Director in seven years, and remained steadfast in his call for a ban on assault weapons.

His presidency builds on a legacy of gun violence prevention, having worked with Brady as a senator to pass Brady Background Checks and an assault weapons ban. He’s proven his commitment to life-saving change time and again and we know that he will continue his fight if reelected.

But we know the road ahead won’t be easy. We’ll be up against a gun lobby that will pour millions into electing a president that will do their deadly bidding. That’s why we’re endorsing the Biden-Harris reelection ticket early and getting to work to galvanize and mobilize gun violence prevention activists across the country.

This election will be the difference between building on the progress we’ve made against the gun violence epidemic and letting the gun lobby take control. Brady is going to fight tooth and nail to reelect President Biden, and we need every activist in the fight with us. Will you join Brady today and endorse gun violence prevention champions President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for reelection? [[link removed]]

VICTORY: Illinois Peels Back Unparalleled Gun Industry Protections

Today, Brady Illinois activists will join Gov. J.B. Pritzker for the signing of HB 218 — legislation that will create a path for gun violence victims and survivors to hold the gun industry accountable for their irresponsible, negligent, or dangerous business practices in court.

This major victory for public safety in Illinois moves us closer to ending special, unparalleled protections enjoyed by the gun industry.
In 2005, Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). Since then, it has been interpreted to shield the gun industry from civil lawsuits, effectively blocking victims and survivors of gun violence from holding gun makers and dealers accountable for their negligent or reckless actions in court.

But those special protections end now in Illinois.

Thanks to your advocacy and the leadership of Illinois lawmakers, Gov. Pritzker will sign HB 218 into law. Gun makers and sellers in Illinois will now be held to account for their actions and inactions that cause harm. Victims and their families will now have a path to justice. And negligent gun makers will be incentivized to make changes and act more responsibly.
Brady is proud to have helped advance this life-saving legislation and send a clear message to the gun industry that they are not above the law. As we continue working to pass similar laws across the country, please join us by learning more about PLCAA and gun industry special protections. [[link removed]]

End Family Fire Anniversary: Five Years of Safe Firearm Storage and Saving Lives

[link removed] [[link removed]]

This week marked five years since we launched End Family Fire [[link removed]] , our groundbreaking safe firearm storage program. We created [[link removed]] End Family Fire to address incidents of family fire, which include unintentional shootings, firearm suicide, and firearm misuse. Since 2018, End Family Fire campaign assets have been seen more than 3.6 billion times.

Our program takes a non-political approach, working with gun owners and non-gun owners alike, to reduce forms of family fire by encouraging safe firearm storage — which means storing firearms locked, unloaded, and separate from ammunition.

When the program launched five years ago, our efforts solely focused on unintentional shootings among children. But since then, we’ve expanded our work to tackle firearm misuse and the deadliest form of gun violence: firearm suicide, which accounts for nearly two-thirds of all gun deaths in America.

This is the focus of our latest campaign called “ Safe Stories [[link removed]] ,” a multimedia campaign and immersive digital experience that shares the real stories of seven people who contemplated taking their own life with a firearm. The effort encourages safe gun storage to prevent a moment of crisis from turning into a permanent tragedy.

We know our End Family Fire program helps save lives. In fact, 48% of gun owners who saw our campaigns changed how or where they keep their firearms to store them in a safer manner.
So as we mark the fifth anniversary of End Family Fire, will you join us in raising awareness about the importance of safe firearm storage? By simply sharing our PSAs and resources, you have the power to save lives. [[link removed]]

Episode 223: The Evolving Role of Healthcare in Combating Gun Violence

Gun violence has tragically become the leading cause of death among children in the United States. This week, we are joined by Dr. Chethan Sathya from the Northwell Health Center for Gun Violence Prevention to discuss how the healthcare sector is taking steps to protect children and others from this public health epidemic. Together, we talk about proactive efforts and tools to prevent gun violence, including judgment-free screenings and surveys for patients.
