[ [link removed] ]A Rice's Whale blowing air
There are only 50 of the newly-discovered Rice’s whale on Earth -- and
they’re in acute danger from offshore oil and gas drilling!
But we can save these majestic creatures if we push the US ocean regulator
to reject new rules that would allow catastrophic seismic blasting in the
whales’ home waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Sign and save the Rice’s whale.

John,
Just discovered, the Rice’s whale could soon be extinct.
It’s absurd, but there’s only 50 of these majestic mammals on the planet
and their home, the Gulf of Mexico, is the most abused marine habitat
there is, thanks to oil and gas drilling.
The deafening noise made by fossil fuel exploration is a deadly threat to
whales -- just recently, 55 pilot whales beached themselves in Scotland,
one cause of death could be the sound waves caused by drilling.
And it could get worse -- the Biden administration is considering new
rules on “seismic blasting” that do nothing to protect marine life. It’s
time to act. Let’s save the rare Rice’s whale and other marine species
from fossil fuel greed:

The 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill already wiped out one-fifth of the
Rice’s whales in existence.
But that’s not enough marine life damage for oil and gas companies. They
continue using seismic air guns to explore the ocean floor for fossil
fuel. These blasts create sound waves that can be heard up to 2500 miles
away. They inflict permanent, even fatal hearing damage on marine animals
like whales.
Whales rely on echolocation, or emitting sounds that vibrate off distant
objects, to communicate with each other, locate food, avoid predators, and
mate. When seismic blasting interferes with this process, it can have
deadly consequences. And it’s pure torture: the explosions go off every
ten seconds, 24 hours a day, and often for weeks on end. We must stop
torturous seismic blasting in the Gulf of Mexico -- now!

wiped out. Reject the new seismic blasting rules in the Gulf of Mexico!
