John,

Being a mom means you experience joy beyond compare, but it also means you spend each second of every day thinking about the well-being of your child. And when my sweet little Daniel was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary, a part of my heart and soul was taken, too.

Now, I spend each second carrying the excruciating heartache of Daniel's murder with me – and the knowledge that his death could have been prevented.

The shooter who murdered him showed warning signs of gun violence, just like the person who murdered 17 students and educators at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland two years ago.

That's why Sandy Hook Promise created Say Something, a no-cost, easy-to-implement program that trains middle school and high school students to look for those warning signs of gun violence and to get help from a trusted adult. This year, Say Something Week is taking place March 2-6 in thousands of schools across the country. As a mother and an educator myself, it would mean so much if you signed up to join:

We know that empowering students to intervene when they see troubling signs of violence can truly save lives. After all, research shows that in four out of five school shootings, attackers tell someone about their plans beforehand.

Our curriculum and materials (some available in Spanish) are provided at no cost and teach students in 45 minutes or less how to identify warning signs of gun violence and Say Something to a trusted adult to get help and prevent a tragedy. This program has helped avert multiple school shooting threats, so will you please join us for this important week of activities and resources to help protect more children?

Join us for Say Something Week this March 2-6 to bring our lifesaving program to your school or youth organization, at no cost and with all materials provided.

I don't want any other parent to feel the endless pain of losing a child to gun violence, and that's why Say Something Week is so important to me. Thank you again for helping me honor my sweet little Daniel and protect more children from gun violence in this critical way.
