John, greetings from the road! I’m traveling across California all month to meet with people from every corner of this great state.
My favorite part of campaigning is getting to meet people and understand what’s on their minds. Hearing their challenges, their passions, what brings them joy, and what motivates them to get involved – this is what I LOVE to do!
Everywhere I go, I ask the same question: “How can I help?”
Keep reading to learn what I’m hearing at these campaign stops, and if you can, please chip in a few bucks at the end to keep us out on the road in the weeks and months ahead!
I met with local leaders in Bakersfield for a Latino Business roundtable hosted by Supervisor Leticia Perez and Vice Mayor Andrae Gonzales. It was exciting to learn of all the growth and innovation taking place in Kern County — and how I can be a good partner and champion for job growth in the county.
We wrapped up our visit to Kern County with a keynote address I gave at the Kern County Dems Dorothy Donahoe Dinner! I came away from the event absolutely inspired by the hard work of these folks, stepping up to serve their community.
After that, we hosted a roundtable discussion in Fresno focused on healthcare, where I met with hard-working people who want to see results for their families and neighbors. Some of the issues facing the Central Valley are unique and challenging, and others are truly universal — and I’m deeply committed to being a champion for the region in these fights in the Senate.
After that, we drove further north to join the phenomenal Women Democrats of Sacramento over the weekend! As Senator, I look forward to standing alongside these trailblazers and fighting to restore reproductive rights, reform the Supreme Court, and bring down the cost of housing.
Then we returned to Los Angeles where I joined the Watts Community for a roundtable. Housing costs, public safety concerns, food access issues, and environmental injustice are only a few of the challenges they face, and I was so grateful to meet with civic leaders to learn how I can help.
Shortly after that, I sat down with Council Member Arturo Flores, Latino small business owners, and leaders in Walnut Park to hear their stories, thoughts, and concerns — and what I can do to help.
Then I headed back north to speak to the Nevada County Democrats and got to see my good friend County Supervisor Heidi Hall.
And I wrapped up the week at the Nevada County Fair! If you get the chance, you should definitely go — it’s the only fair I’ve seen that’s surrounded by trees — highly recommended!
John, at each stop on this tour, I’ve met incredible people who care deeply about their community. I’ve listened to their stories and learned more about their concerns. In the Senate, I can’t wait to work with these folks to make a difference for everyone.
I’m keeping up this tour over the coming weeks, and I’d appreciate your support so we can keep meeting voters everywhere!
