John,
If we learned anything from the extreme weather events across the country this summer, it’s this:
Climate change is here and it’s not going anywhere.
July beat June as the hottest month on record, a trend that will likely continue in August. Yet instead of finding meaningful ways to solve the climate crisis, the GOP and their Big Oil backers have spent years making it worse.
For decades, fossil fuel companies have spread disinformation about the climate crisis and their role, something we see reflected in many of Ami’s current GOP colleagues.
Now, we’re reaching the point of no return.
It’s time to take action. We need 1,500 people to sign the petition this week and join Ami in condemning the misleading statements far-right leaders and their fossil fuel backers have made and demand meaningful climate action→
In 2022, the cost of climate and weather disasters in the United States totaled more than $165 billion—making it the third costliest year on record. Our carbon emissions continue to rise exponentially despite the need to lower them.
Marginalized communities, which have made the fewest contributions to this crisis, have faced the most devastating impacts to their health and livelihoods.
If we don’t ramp up our efforts to cut carbon emissions over the next few years, our ability to curb climate change will be significantly dwindled. Climate change affects everything from the likelihood of pandemics, to our lung health, to asthma, to floods and to fires.
It’s non-optional: We need to invest in green jobs, air quality, electric vehicles, and 100% carbon-free technology. It’s time for those who disagree to stop misleading the American people and join us in making meaningful action.
Join Ami in calling for strong climate action to protect our communities→
The oil industry spends massive sums to back climate deniers at all levels of government who in turn refuse to support climate related legislation.
