BREAKING NEWS: Hawaii declares State Of Emergency as hurricane winds drive wildfires in Maui
|
John,
Hawaii declares a state of emergency in the wake of blazing wildfires causing rescues and evacuations on the island. The wildfires have been exacerbated due to hurricane-force winds.
The climate crisis continues to wreak havoc on communities and planet-warming fossil fuels are the root of the problem. Our planet is warming at an alarming rate causing climate emergencies like the one in Hawaii.
We cannot sit idly by – it’s time we show our support to the communities in Hawaii.
Will you contribute whatever you can to these relief efforts?
Hawaii Community Foundation - Maui Strong Fund
The Maui Strong Fund was created to provide community resilience with resources for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. The fund is currently being used to support communities affected by the wildfires on Maui.
Maui Mutual Aid Fund
The Maui Mutual Aid Fund collects donations, share needs, and kokua’Ohana most in need that wouldn’t otherwise qualify for support or have a hard time accessing it.
Maui Food Bank
With every $1 donated, the Maui Food Bank can provide 4 meals to the hungry living in our island community.
The Maui Humane Society
The Humane Society is currently all-hands-on-deck addressing the Wildfire Crisis and helping pets and their owners.
Many businesses, countless homes, and hundreds of acres have been burned down with thousands of people displaced and being rescued by first responders. Places of historic and cultural significance in the town of Lahaina have been wiped out, leaving a devastating impact on the indigenous communities. This is our planet and home, and it’s up to us to fight for the safety of our communities and hold our elected officials accountable for their years of inaction that led to this moment of climate disasters.
With Gratitude,
Jane Fonda Climate PAC
