Howdy Texan –

This week, I traveled 637 miles around Texas’ 31^st district to hear from my constituents, talk to local businesses, and meet with elected officials. It was a busy and productive week. While I have a moment in my schedule, I wanted to update you on what’s happening in the U.S. House and Texas’ 31st district.

Constituent Services Update

THE BRIEF:

U.S. gas prices are surging to their highest level since October 2022.
Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents seized over $3.8 million of cocaine at the Texas-Mexico border this week.
According to a New York Federal Reserve report, Americans are increasingly turning to credit cards to cover everyday expenses, with debt surpassing $1 trillion for the first time at the end of June.

MADE IN AMERICA: TESLA

Burdensome regulations force companies to go overseas to cut costs, putting America's supply chain and jobs in peril. I visited Tesla's Gigafactory Texas to discuss how we can bring our supply chain back on American soil and how we should cut the regulatory burden created by the left. I'm a supporter of slashing regulations to incentivize American companies to bring their production back to the U.S. Tesla is an excellent example of American-made, but they talked to me about a few regulatory issues that impact their production. The government must get out of the way to strengthen our supply chain and decrease our dependence on foreign countries.

I also briefly chatted with Tesla leaders about workforce development initiatives at local schools and how Texas' 31st district schools can get involved. Tesla has a strong career and technical education program for local students to get good-paying jobs right out of high school. I look forward to continuing to work with them on this shared interest.

TRUCKING SOLUTIONS

I toured Hyliion in Cedar Park to learn more about their solutions for the commercial trucking industry. America’s truckers are keeping the country going, and Hyliion’s technology can reduce costs with an electrified powertrain that can use any available fuel option. The company is also offering electric solutions that can power hospitals, businesses, and residences off-grid.

CHINA PURCHASING AMERICA’S FARMLAND

The Communist Party of China (CCP) has expanded its presence in American agriculture over the last decade by purchasing farmland and major agribusinesses. I joined my colleagues in voting to prohibit the purchase of America's farmland by the CCP. This economic and national security issue should be bipartisan, but Democrats did not support this measure. I believe we MUST keep American land in American hands, but I want to hear from you. Take a minute to answer the question below.

CONSTITUENT SERVICES UPDATE

As your congressman, one of the most important parts of my job is helping my constituents cut through bureaucratic red tape with issues related to federal agencies. In July, my office assisted 217 Central Texas families with issues like back IRS refunds, VA benefits, and passport delays and returned over $1,400,000 to constituents. In the last eight months alone, we’ve returned over $5 million to TX-31 constituents by cutting through bureaucratic red tape. I believe the government works for YOU, and I'm committed to making sure it does.
