*Now hiring: BJS Non-supervisory Statisticians (Social Science)*
BJS seeks Non-supervisory Statisticians (Social Science) at the GS-11 through GS-14 levels to be part of one or more teams carrying out statistical data collections and programs in criminal victimization, law enforcement, corrections, courts, recidivism, or special projects. Among job duties, statisticians will?
* perform various statistical data collection activities, such as preparing, processing, analyzing, and coordinating core and periodic data collections
* ensure the effective collection of statistical data and the use of appropriate collection systems to satisfy immediate, mid-range, and long-term statistical data collection requirements
* manage, lead, or perform work applying statistical theories, techniques, and methods for gathering, studying, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on statistical information
* analyze a variety of datasets using appropriate statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R
* prepare a variety of statistical products, questionnaires, reports, presentations, and other written documentation that support statistical findings and dissemination for audiences including the criminal justice community, Congress, Department officials, and the general public
* provide statistical policy and procedural consultation, advice, and guidance on complex scientific and criminal justice issues in a statistical area related to government functions.
