Dear Friend,
We recently alerted you to reports that Texas Governor Greg Abbott is maiming and killing migrant families with razor wire “death traps” in the Rio Grande—treating children like enemy combatants and pushing them back into the river. (Heard enough? Skip ahead to take action. >>)
Today, I’m writing you with a disturbing update to that story:
Governor Abbott deployed a 1,000-foot-long buoy barrier, and new reports reveal they are connected with chainsaw-like blades. Tragically, several dead bodies have already been found stuck to the barrier, one of them a 20-year-old Salvadoran man identified by his mother.
Governor Abbott has blood on his hands, and the tide of public opinion is turning against him. At this pivotal moment, we really can make an impact if we act together—and now. Sign the petition demanding Governor Abbott immediately remove the death traps.
U.S. Representative Joaquín Castro posted images on social media of the chainsaw-like blades up close:
Join people in Texas and all across the country demanding Governor Abbott immediately remove the barbaric buoy barrier and razor wire death traps. Add your name today.
Thank you for being part of the LGBTQ immigrant's rights movement. Together, we’ll keep fighting for asylum seekers to be treated with the dignity they deserve.
