John,
The CDC just announced a new vaccine that would protect newborns from RSV, cutting hospitalizations down by 75%. This shot will undoubtedly save lives. And that’s great news for your family — if you can afford it.
The estimated cost per dose is $495. That’s on top of all of the other costs associated with having a child, including the ways hospital corporations and insurance companies nickel and dime you for everything from critical care to a couple of ibuprofen.
Something has to change. Everyone deserves access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare, which is why I support moving towards a single-payer system. If you agree that our healthcare system needs an overhaul, will you add your name in support of universal healthcare today?
I was raised by two doctors (and even played one on TV!), but I know firsthand how frustrating the healthcare system can be. When I received my cancer diagnosis, I knew I was one of the privileged few who would be able to make it through that battle financially. Most people can’t. You, reading this email, probably can’t.
A woman in Grand Rapids I spoke to recently couldn’t either, and turned to crowdfunding to ensure she could receive the heart transplant she badly needed. Stories like hers are why it’s so important that we pursue universal healthcare. Whether it’s a lifesaving vaccine in the first moments of your life or a surprise diagnosis in the middle of it, we all deserve to receive care without going bankrupt.
Healthcare is a right we MUST guarantee. Please sign my petition to show support for a universal healthcare system that prioritizes the health of your loved ones over profits.
Thanks,
Hill Harper
