[1]Justice Democrats

John, as we move
closer to yet another major election year in 2024, I want to take a moment
to look back on Justice Democrats’ crucial fights and victories you fueled
in 2020.

The 2020 election was not only a pivotal moment in defending our country
and our democracy from further damage under Donald Trump — it was a
massive opportunity to fight back against moderates and move our
progressive movement forward.

Thanks to support from people like you, we recruited and elected two new
members of the Squad: Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st district and Jamaal
Bowman in New York’s 16th district.

Both Cori and Jamaal were working-class candidates of color who
successfully ousted long-time Democratic incumbents who were failing to
serve their communities. Now, they’re providing true representation and
pushing for bold change in Congress.

But that’s not all we accomplished in 2020. During the presidential
primaries, Justice Democrats became one of the only organizations to run
compelling ads and a press offensive against more corporate-friendly
Democrats vying for the nomination.

In May of 2020, we privately and publicly sent a Youth Vote Turnout Letter
to Joe Biden ahead of his nomination, explaining what kind of
transformative policies and actions we expected from him in order to earn
our support.

When now President Biden beat Trump, we celebrated and then got right to
work launching campaigns like ClimateMandate.org to hold him accountable
to our communities and ensure a bold governing agenda as president. We
made it clear that we expect and demand urgent mobilization around the
climate crisis, as well as progressive representation in his Cabinet.

Throughout 2020, Justice Democrats sent a message: young people will no
longer automatically give our votes and support to Democrats who uphold
the status quo. We demand better, and we’re not stopping.

In 2024, we need to double-down on the work we achieved in 2020: re-elect
our incumbents like Cori and Jamaal, elect new progressive leaders to
Congress, and re-elect President Biden while making sure he delivers on
his promises.
