Unfortunately, the Judiciary Committee itself and my Democratic colleagues have become the last line of defense as Jim Jordan and far-right GOP members move forward with their extreme agenda.

The role of the Judiciary Committee in defending the Constitution is central to protecting the rights and freedoms of every American – it’s work that I don’t take lightly. It should never be used as a political tool for obstruction and partisan grandstanding.

Jim Jordan used his power as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee to create and fund the partisan Subcommittee on the Weaponization of Government, demanding over $18 million in funding. With Jordan as chairman, all too often, hearings devolve into political showmanship to settle partisan scores.
