This comes just a week after the New York Times broke the news that Clarence Thomas’s beloved RV (which cost $267,230) was financed in part by Anthony Welters, a close friend who made his fortune in the healthcare industry.

What makes all of this worse is that we only know this because of the reporters that dug into these stories — Clarence Thomas never disclosed any of it.

Clarence Thomas’s failure to disclose flights, yachts, expensive tickets and more is a violation of the law. John the trouble is: there’s no official mechanism to hold him accountable.

This is why CREW has been calling for the Supreme Court to adopt a formal code of ethics.

We just released a paper endorsing the application of the current Code of Conduct for United States Judges to the Supreme Court, with appropriate adjustments given the Court’s unique constitutional status. We released that proposal along with an expert: a retired federal judge, Judge Jeremy Fogel.

If you agree that the Supreme Court should have a binding Code of Conduct, then we’re asking for your support to help us fight for it.

We’ve seen what happens when there’s no oversight on these justices. We *know* they’ve engaged in conduct that would not be permitted under the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, yet justices on the highest court in the country keep getting away with it.

We must push for the Supreme Court to adopt a code of conduct that would establish a framework for addressing and investigating misconduct. We must make sure that justices like Clarence Thomas who may have violated the law are investigated and held to account.

Credibility is the Supreme Court's currency and if that falls away, then the entire institution crumbles.

Here at CREW, we’re taking action to hold the Supreme Court, and the judiciary as a whole, accountable. But we need supporters like you, John to pitch in and help us keep up this fight.
