John–

I don't have much time before I go on stage here in Chicago, so I wanted to make sure I let you know what's going on.

This weekend I'm at our annual Gun Sense University—and I've never been more excited to go back to school. It's my first GSU as Executive Director of Moms Demand Action, and I'm here with Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers and survivors from across the country.

Our movement has never been more powerful, and we've got a lot planned.

John, make sure you don't miss out on the fun: Follow us on social media for updates throughout the weekend, including live-streams from me, other movement leaders, and gun sense champions like Vice President Kamala Harris.

This year is our first in-person Gun Sense University since before the COVID-19 pandemic. For our movement, that brings up a lot of memories.

The last time we gathered together for GSU, we found ourselves responding to breaking news of a mass shooting. A white supremacist had just shot and killed 23 people in El Paso, Texas.

We were in Washington, D.C., to learn and to connect—and we knew we had to act. We went out in the streets and marched to the White House, wearing our red shirts and holding signs to demand action. At a crucial time, we made our voices heard. It was a powerful moment our movement will never forget.

Moments like that are what Gun Sense University is all about. We interact face-to-face with one another and really see just how powerful and amazing this movement has become. We get to know each other not just as activists, but also as allies and friends with a shared commitment to making our communities safer for everyone.

I can't wait to share this incredible experience with all of you.

Thank you for helping build this movement.
