Donald Trump isn’t helping.
Fresh off his rally with the President, a new poll shows Cory Gardner trailing a generic Democrat by 11 points: 40% to 51%. Gardner’s favorability rating is even lower: at 34%, he’s less popular in Colorado than Trump himself.

This poll is devastating news not only for Cory Gardner but also for the party bosses behind John Hickenlooper’s campaign. As Hick said last year, “I don’t think they need me to beat Cory Gardner.”
He’s right. We don’t.
Democrats don’t have to settle for a reluctant candidate—much less one who told us over and over again how much he’d hate the job. Hickenlooper said he wasn’t cut out for the Senate; we believe him.
This is the best chance in America to flip a seat from red to blue. Let’s make the most of it.
