Last night, multiple news agencies reported that the intelligence community briefed Congressional leaders and the White House on new attempts by Russia to influence and hack the 2020 election. It’s what the experts have been warning us about all along.
Confidence in our elections is paramount to the functioning of our democracy and partisanship has no place there.
Yet, last summer, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith rushed to the Senate floor to stop the passage of multiple election security bills that were designed to help prevent against the election manipulation we saw in 2016 and the very same interference Russia is now confirmed to be attempting right now.
Too many have fought and died for our democracy and our freedom to ever allow a foreign power, not to mention a hostile foreign power, to attempt to interfere in our elections.
Given last night’s reports, it’s about time that Cindy Hyde-Smith explains why she stood against measures to secure our elections. It is time for Senator Hyde-Smith to explain whose side she is on. It is time for Senator Hyde-Smith to do the right thing, stand up for fair and free elections, and ditch her blind partisan loyalty, her blind partisan ambition, and her blind complicity in Russia's attempts to manipulate our elections.
