Team — Senator Tommy Tuberville is risking our national security and using women service members as political pawns to advance his extremist agenda. It’s despicable.
In case you haven’t been following, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville (who, by the way, has not served in the military) has been blocking all votes on military promotions in the Senate.
As a result, hundreds of positions remain unfilled. The Marine Corps and the Army are without Senate-confirmed leaders, with the Navy soon to follow.
Why is he doing such a reckless, dangerous thing? In protest of Defense Department policies regarding reproductive health care.
For service members stationed in states where abortion is illegal (states like Alabama), the Department of Defense will reimburse travel expenses and provide leave for women seeking reproductive care.
In protest, Senator Tuberville is blocking *all* military promotions, putting our national security at risk and degrading women service members as collateral in the culture wars.
Let me be very clear: no lawmaker at any level of government should have this unilateral power.
Alongside some of the toughest soldiers on this planet, many of them women, I’ve been on the receiving end of bad foreign policy decisions made by Washington politicians, many of whom never served.
Those decisions would send us to fight in forever wars. Some never made it back, some lost friends, but we all witnessed atrocities that changed us. Still, our mission was clear: protect and defend American freedoms.
But Senator Tuberville is jeopardizing our country. He’s discounting the contributions and dedication of women service members. He’s making a mockery of our military institutions — and it needs to end NOW.
Please, join me in calling on Tommy Tuberville to lift his blockade on military promotions right away >>
I will be relentless in my calls for Tuberville to end his partisan stunt – it’s hurting our country’s defenses. Thank you for your support.
Yours in service,
Pat
