John, we’ve said from the start that the fights to protect abortion access and our democratic institutions go hand in hand. Just look at the special election in Ohio this week. 

Once again, Republican officials attempted to suppress the will of our communities. Their goal? To make it even harder to pass a constitutional amendment that would protect abortion statewide. Ohioans turned out and said NO. 

But the fight is not over. 

Our communities in Republican-controlled states are still facing constant attacks on their right to be heard. Republican politicians are using every trick in the book from restricting access to the ballot box to rigging election maps in their favor. In Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis just suspended another democratically elected prosecutor ignoring the will of his own constituents! We urgently need to break their grip on the levers of power. That’s why Emerge’s work to empower Democratic women to lead is crucial to the direction of our democracy. 

We’re ramping up our programs to recruit and train more Democratic women to join this fight. But right now we’re falling $1,214 short of our midnight fundraising goal, and we need your help to close the gap.
