and the billionaires who paid for them

Whitehouse for Senate

Team,

Three decades on the Court. At least 38 undisclosed vacations – including a yachting trip around the Bahamas, over two dozen private jet flights, and a handful of VIP sporting event passes – paid for by right-wing billionaires. And that's only what ProPublica has been able to dig up so far when it comes to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ luxurious lifestyle, funded by a handful of ultra-rich men.

The latest piece from ProPublica details Thomas’ activities and vacations gifted to him by wealthy benefactors who, according to ProPublica, “all work in industries significantly impacted by the court’s decisions.” These trips likely cost millions of dollars. Many look they should have been disclosed under current laws – and those laws clearly need to be strengthened. Justices acting like the rules don't apply to them is one of the reasons Americans' trust in the Court has plummeted.

I’m working to fix this mess by passing a bill that would create a real code of ethics and stronger disclosure requirements at the Supreme Court. The American people deserve to know how Thomas’ billionaire friends are trying to exert their influence over the Court. Can you chip in $5 today to keep me in this fight?

This is going to keep getting worse, but Congress has the power to step in and fix it.

Thank you for standing with me,

Sheldon Whitehouse
