Friend,

Donald Trump just released his new budget proposing massive cuts to
Social Security and Medicare—cuts that should destroy him politically in
key battleground states like Florida and Pennsylvania.

The response from the corporate media? Crickets.

Trump's budget cuts nearly one trillion dollars out of Social Security
and Medicare, two of the most popular social programs in history. With
any other president, these cuts would be absolutely fatal.

At Common Dreams, Trump's planned cuts to Social Security and Medicare
are headline news—as they should be. Will you donate to help power our
coverage of the Trump budget and the 2020 election?

Everyone knows that seniors turn out to vote more than any other age
group and that Trump is dead meat without them. Florida is the
second-oldest state in the country. Pennsylvania isn't far behind.

If Trump loses those two states, you can cue the fat lady. Turn out the
lights. The election is over.

And yet if you get your news from corporate media outlets like CNN or
Fox News, you probably haven't heard about the cuts. Trump's attacks on
Social Security didn't even come up in Wednesday's debate on MSNBC.

The corporate elites and super-rich executives who call the shots at
these news outlets are so out of touch, they have no idea how
destructive the cuts would be to regular Americans. Most of them agree
with the Republican Party line that these programs need to be cut to
balance the budget—never mind the Bush and Trump tax cuts for the
wealthy or the cost of America's forever wars.

This election is too important to let the corporate media bury the news
of Trump's Social Security and Medicare cuts. Will you donate to help
fund our ongoing coverage of all the issues that matter to the 99%?
