Meet the Board Member TONIGHT: Dominica Henderson

San Francisco Transit Riders, WalkSF, and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition are proud to host a member event with Dominica Henderson, the newest incoming member of the SFMTA Board. If you are a member of any of these organizations, come join us Thursday, August 10th, from 6:00-7:30pm, over Zoom!

Have questions for incoming Board Director Henderson? Questions will be taken both before and during the event, and asked by a moderator. Sign-up here, and start thinking about what you’d like to ask!

This is a members only event. Become a member at any monetary amount, even $1, to join us tonight!

Let’s finish the job on a faster, safer Geary!

Improvements east of Stanyan gave us a Geary that is faster, with 18% faster travel for the 38/38R, and safer, with an 81% drop in excessive speeding. The Geary Boulevard Improvement Project extends the work of the Geary Rapid Project, which was completed in 2021. It adds four major components to Geary, from Stanyan to 34th ave, which you can learn more about here.

The SFMTA Board will vote on the Geary Boulevard Improvement Project on August 15th. Meeting starts at 1pm. If you’d like to give a public comment in support, please fill out the form below so we can send you example talking points, and a reminder the day before. For those commenting by phone, we’ll also send a text/SMS when it’s time to call in!

If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected].

Please note that the SFMTA Board is currently limiting phone public comments to 10 minutes total per agenda item. Giving your comment in person at city hall guarantees that you’ll be heard. If you’re phoning in, the earlier you call in once the item is called, the higher the chance your comment will be heard.

Finally, if you haven't already done so, please send a letter to city leaders, including the SFMTA Board, right now! You can send a letter here. And don't forget to share these opportunities with your community on social media.

We're less than one month away from this year's Transit Month, a whole 30-day celebration of Bay Area transit and the people who keep it moving.

During Transit Month, groups, agencies and individuals around the Bay put on events to help show elected officials how important transit is to our communities and how much better transit could be if we invested in it. Events also highlight the importance of transit for the general public and help build transit joy, loyalty, and pride. We want our whole Bay Area to be proud of our transit system. So help us out by joining in!

If you are interested or curious in helping put on an event, let us know! You can respond to this email or click the button below. Here are some examples of events that are in the works:

  • Meet the CEOs Ride-along and Happy Hour
  • Wine and Ride: Transit to Choice of 16 wineries, breweries, and attractions
  • Bus to the Beach
  • Transit Month Hike: Joaquin Miller Park

We'd love your help planning more Transit Month events for San Francisco — it could be an event that helps advance an issue that's important to you, or just something that promotes transit and spreads joy.
