At the beginning of the 2020 Kansas legislative session, Laura announced a bipartisan compromise to expand KanCare, our state’s Medicaid program, while lowering health insurance premiums for Kansas families. It looked like state legislators from both sides of the aisle were finally going to join together to help Kansans across the state gain access to affordable health care.
But now, some extremists in the Legislature are playing partisan games with the health and wellbeing of 150,000 Kansans by blocking this plan.
This proposal was the first step toward ensuring all Kansans have access to quality, affordable health care. As one of only 14 states that have not expanded Medicaid, Laura is committed to working with leaders from both sides of the aisle to get it done.
We have the opportunity to use the rest of the 2020 legislative session as a way to push Medicaid expansion over the finish line -- but Laura can't continue the fight without your help.
